MathTalk
Massachusetts
Model C FSP since January 2024
Description
MathTalk makes math fun, meaningful and valuable for kids and families everywhere. Our products leverage community assets to create and connect math learning moments at home, in the classroom and in the neighborhood. By connecting math learning with local ecosystems, as well as the local economy, MathTalk products engage kids in a multi-year community-math journey that grows as they do.
Mission
Through this project we will expand and deepen our work to co-design MathTrails in economically distressed communities throughout America. MathTrails are free public installations that combine art and education to create physical learning spaces and draw attention to STEM learning opportunities in neighborhoods. MathTrails leverage innovative technology to create inclusive digital opportunities that strengthen, enhance, and extend math learning throughout a neighborhood and community. Through a co-design process that galvanizes community stakeholders and centers the voices of those most directly impacted by the outcomes of the design, MathTrails are a place-based initiative that leverages local context and community to improve STEM learning and promote sustainable and community-led outcomes.
